Our Legacy
Founded in the 1920s as the
Blackstone Club by attorney
Crispus Attucks Wright and
other pioneering Black lawyers,
the organization emerged in
response to exclusionary
practices of other bar
associations. Renamed the
Langston Law Club in 1943, it
gained recognition from the Los
Angeles County Bar Association
in the mid-1960s and officially
became the John M. Langston Bar
Association in 1968.
